About Millhopper Veterinary Medical Center
Founded by Dr. Richard A. Goldman, Millhopper Veterinary Medical Center opened in November 1977. The next phase opened in May 1983 and won the prestigious Veterinary Economics Design Merit Award. The current state-of-the-art medical center facility opened on December 16,1991.
We are very proud of the fact that our current medical center has won a coveted Veterinary Economics Hospital Design Award for 1993 in the Hospital of the Year competition. This is awarded for hospital design excellence to only 1 hospital per year in the entire United States.
In addition, we were awarded the highly respected Practice of Excellence Award in 1995, which is given to recognize excellent care delivery, human resources management, overall management systems and hospital design.
We also received a Gainesville City Beautification Award in the Medical Category in 1991 in honor of our facility's attractive design and landscaping and their enhancement of the community.
MVMC is one of a small number of veterinary hospitals in the entire state that has repeatedly passed the rigorous on-site evaluation of the American Animal Hospital Association and has been recognized by being awarded full accreditation as an AAHA certified hospital, the highest category of certification available.
